Training Through Coffee
The coffee shop serves as the heart of the A Latte Opportunities Training and Employment Program. Through structured, hands-on learning, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities gain practical skills, workplace confidence, and a sense of purpose in a supportive environment.
Who It’s For
Adults ages 18–48 with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are seeking a supportive environment to build skills and gain meaningful experience.
Individuals looking to develop job skills and real-world work experience that can translate to future employment opportunities.
Participants who are ready to learn, grow, and engage in a structured program designed to build confidence, independence, and connection.
How the Program Works
Apply & Get Started
Participants begin by applying to the program and preparing to enter a supportive, hands-on learning environment designed for growth and success.
Complete 6-Week Training
Participants move through a structured six-week program focused on building foundational workplace skills, including customer service, beverage preparation, cash handling, and kitchen safety and sanitation. Training takes place within the coffee shop, allowing for real-time practice and skill development.
Gain Experience & Give Back
Through ongoing mentorship, on-the-job experience, and supervised community service opportunities, participants build confidence, independence, and teamwork skills. These experiences help prepare individuals for meaningful employment while also giving back to the community.
What Comes Next
After completing the program, participants leave with valuable skills, experience, and support to take the next step toward greater independence and employment.
Opportunities for paid employment (when available) within the program, allowing participants to continue building skills in a familiar and supportive environment
Transferable job skills for other workplaces, including customer service, communication, and teamwork that can be applied across a variety of roles
Increased independence and confidence gained through hands-on experience, helping participants navigate both workplace and everyday situations
Resume-building support and workshops to help participants showcase their skills and prepare for future job opportunities
